WHAT IS XC RACING?

Cross-country (XC) snowmobile racing is an endurance-based motorsport where riders navigate long-distance courses across natural winter terrain, including lakes, woods, trails, fields, and ditches. It combines high-speed performance with technical riding, demanding skill, stamina, and machine durability.

NEXC primarily utilizes lakes and ponds for race venues for a predictable race schedule; even if there are low snow conditions but a safe thickness of ice, we race! Course length varies from 5-10 miles long in a lap format. Race locations are comprised of entry admissions, registration area, pit area's and spectator area's.

NEXC provides heads-up start racing, where racers all begin on the same starting line and follow a uniformed flagging system and a timing system. Racing for most Sport (Amature), trail, and juniors class is comprised of 25 miles of racing per applicable class. As the level of competition goes up, so does the distance! Semi-pros and Pro Women race 50 miles, and the Pro level race 100 miles! With NEXC, we offer a short track for youth 120 and 200cc sleds!

Any trail sled is welcome to compete, especial in our trail class which accommodates 800-850cc n/a sleds. This allows your every day trail rider to give XC racing a try! Remaining classes are stock; limited to a 600cc or less sleds. Improved classes allowing limited modifications to the sled and/or 650cc sleds.
